China 2016 Factory Holidays

There are a lot of details that go into production planning. One of the most important and often overlooked considerations is factory holidays. Because Chinese holidays are on a lunar calendar, days off can change significantly from one year to the next.

Most factories will be closed the following dates for 2016 holidays in China.

New Year Dec 31 - Jan 3
Chinese New Year
Feb 1 - Mar 1
Tomb Sweeping Day Apr 4
Dragon Boat Festival Jun 9 -  11
Victory Day Sep 3
Mid-Autumn Moon Festival Sep 15 - 18
National Day & Golden Week Oct 1 - 9

Be aware that actual dates will vary from one factory to another. A factory’s schedule may also change on short notice, typically due to local government mandates, but also as the result of changes to in-process production runs and shipping schedules.

In order to keep on top of your delivery dates, it is important to check in with your factories and make sure they are keeping you updated on any scheduling changes in production.
